The
Iguassu Falls are one of the world's greatest tourist attractions.
Visitors can walk across a bridge close to the Falls. They can
take a boat trip to view them more closely.

As
tropical birds fly overhead, rainbows form in the spray, giving
the falls incredible beauty. The falls may be visited by foot,
air, or water. A visitor's walkway winds around to various viewing
platforms. At the end, an elevator takes you to the top level,
where there is a souvenir shop and an observation point to view
the top plateau of the Iguassu River. Helicopter rides and boat
rides are also available. There is wildlife to be seen here as
well. The Atlantic rainforest sits at the edge of hotel.
Also
in the area there is the Iguassu National Park where tourists
can view the wildlife and vegetation. Boating is also available
on the Parana and Iguassu rivers. People can also visit the Itaipu
Dam, one of the world's largest hydroelectric power stations.
The
real attraction here is the falls where the mighty Iguassu Falls
present a spectacular show. Actually here Argentina, Brazil and
Paraguay meet. On the Argentine side of the falls themselves there
is only one hotel that, while expensive, offers some breathtaking
views of the falls.

Thousands of people
from all over the world daily crowd the catwalks built over the lguassu River just to be a
few meters close to the Garganta do Diablo (Devil's Throat), the most terrifying and enigmatic
of the 275 waterfalls in the lguassu Falls - the largest group of waterfalls on the Planet.
The Falls provide one of the most beautiful spectacles in nature in any season of the year.
The beauty of the waters dancing changes according to the water volume of the lguassu River.
The average volume is 1.2 million cubic meters per second. At times when the river is full,
this figure is three times bigger. In the dry seasons, the thin streams strip the rocks off,
which were sculpted by a series of volcanic eruptions about 120 million years ago.
In
the past years, new tourist attractions have become part of the
Falls. The choice is varied and includes: adventure-packed, ecological,
scientific and cultural kinds of tourism. The region can be visited
by land, water or air. One of the most exciting rides is the one
on the lguassu River. Boats take groups of tourists quite close
to the canyon of the Falls. The thrill of going under some waterfalls
is indescribable. Some tourists come back to relive it twice,
three, four times. The adventure is preceded by a jeep ride on
open trails in the lguassu National Park. Bilingual guides explain
the peculiarities of the local fauna and flora to the visiting
groups. During the ride it is common to see coatis, lizards, birds
and a good number of insects. This adventure can also be experienced
from above on a helicopter ride. Inside the lguassu National Park,
a private company offers this service. The panoramic flight, which
is seven minutes long, gives a wider view of the Falls; over the
city and the ltaipu Power Plant it takes about 35 minutes.
Iguassu Falls is not
only a sight to be seen, it must be heard and it must be felt. There are few natural wonders
in the world that I have seen that match this experience. In total, I visited the Falls four
times, twice from the Brazil side and twice from the Argentine side. Awesome, spectacular and
powerful are a few adjectives one might use... but mere words cannot express the full experience.
